AHP Awards Finalists
The Appaloosa Journal is among finalists in the 2013 American Horse Publications Annual Awards Contest for material published in and dated 2012. Participation in this year’s contest increased over last year with 104 AHP members entering a total of 758 entries. Held since 1974, the AHP Annual Awards Contest provides members with an opportunity to be recognized for excellence in equine media as well as professional critiques for improvement. Winners will be announced at the AHP Annual Meeting in June.
Appaloosas in the Spotlight
A special advertising section of the May issue of Southwest Art is entitled “The Art of the Horse” features a portrait of State of Dee Heart, Versatility Champion and Superior Event Horse owned by Ed and Missy Millhouse of Stillwater, Minnesota. The painting is by Nanci Fulmek of St. Paul.
On the Trail
The May issue of The Trail Rider magazine includes a feature on the Appaloosa Museum’s benefit ride known as the Apalousey Trail Ride – recently renamed the George B. Hatley Memorial Ride. Written by Kent and Charlene Krone, the article is a mix of regional and Appaloosa history along with positive publicity for the ride August 9-11.
